Shamanic Ceremonies: New Moon

New Moon Ceremonies
We meditate on the full moon as Mother of Creation; in the new moon we honor Her in Her Maiden aspect. The new moon is a time of regeneration, renewal, creativity, hope, new beginnings, new projects, new relationships, rebirth and liberation. The new moon phase is an optimal time for planning and seeding your intentions. Seedlings need a period of gestation before they break through the soil and reach for the sunlight. This is also true for our ideas and our desires. The dark side of the moon, with its mysterious unseen forces, offers a nurturing environment where our intentions can establish roots before their miraculous manifestations begin to sprout and reach out to the stars.

Ambisonic Surround Sound

Ambisonic Surround Sound

“Ambisonics” is an emerging 3D audio technology. It works differently than other audio playback system in such that all the speakers work together to create an immersive sound-field, rather than sending individual channels of sound to each speaker. The result is a holophonic surround sound experiences where sound can be perceived  from any or all directions surrounding the listener, even between, where no actual speaker is present.

One key advantage of using an Ambisonic surround sound for health and wellness applications is the role of active listening vs. passive hearing. The ability to separate and move sound while simultaneously creating an immersive field of sound around the listener stimulates both passive and active listening in a unique way. In addition, Ambisonic audio delivers a far more organic and natural listening experience by satisfying the mechanisms used by the ear and brain to perceive sound in 3D space.

Stop Dance is a one-hour dance meditation, with improvised high energy music. The participants are guided to dance - allowing themselves to drown and let go into the music and rhythm. The dancer loses himself in the dance  - but with random shouts of STOP! during the dance stage. With the sudden STOP! the music halts, there is complete silence and the dancer freezes in whatever movement and position he is in - allowing all the energy that is built up during the dance to travel inwards. Again the music starts...

As a boy, Porter used to sing along to the Nat King Cole records his mother played. Now, Porter has become especially popular in Europe with his vocals that explore jazz, gospel and soul.

Having stepped out of the shadows of others, she impressed critics with her debut album AH!.

South African producer Nozinja is the man at the helm of Shangaan Electro. A former mobile phone repair shop worker turned music entrepreneur, he is responsible for recording, producing and selling more than 50,000 records a year through his record label (he also sings himself). The story of Shangaan Electro started in 2005, when Nozinja decided to take traditional, marimba-based Shangaan music and make it faster. At that point, the most popular music was at 130-135 beats per minute, which he increased to 180. The result: a whirling form of dance music with ‘lyrics like African soap operas and a whole lot of ass-shaking’, as UK paper The Guardian puts it. An experience that everyone has to undergo at least once.

The fire is an ideal place to re-connect to your Oneness with the Universe. By honoring Pachamama (Mother Earth), Great Spirit, the Angelic light Being, and those who came before us and will come after us, you will re-orient yourself as to your true place in the Universe.

We bring an offering to the fire as a gift. It is something that is made from nature that is burnable - a stick, flower, pinecone, etc. Spend some time with the item, and with your intention, blow into the offering whatever you want to release, heal, or bring into your life. When you approach the fire, say a prayer of gratitude and make your offering.

Through a fire ceremony, energy bound in old ways can be freed to move in a new direction. We symbolically release something that no longer serves a useful purpose, and claim the energy we invest in that old behavior pattern for a new purpose.

Heal, Enlighten And Change Our Brains: Neurofeedback
Wuttke likes to say our brain tends to follow certain “scripts”, patterns of thoughts, emotions and behavior, that take us to the same place over and over, wreaking havoc in our daily life. Brain wave neurofeedback forges new pathways in the brain and helps us devise new scripts so we can be happier and feel more fulfilled as human beings upon this earth. Attendees will leave with the understanding that there are tools available to heal and optimize their brain.

The Intelligence Of The Heart

Each one of us participates to two different levels of time: sequential time, the level of our rational life in which time flows from the past to the future in a succession of absolute moments, and unitary time, the level of emotional life, intuitions and creativity, in which there is coexistence of past, present and future. The heart guides our inner evolution through intuitions, inspirations and creativity and the incredible properties of the unitary time.

Changing Patterns
The principle of complementarity has immediate practical applications on our wellbeing since it activates synchronicities, opportunities and change. But our old patterns provide meanings and are our vision of the world. To take full advantage of syntropy it is necessary to overcome our old patterns.

Time For A Change In Paradigm
The backward-in-time solutions of the equations that combine Special Relativity and Quantum Mechanics were rejected in the 1930s because they imply retrocausality which conflicts with the assumption that causes must always precede their effects. But, the properties of life coincide with the properties of the backward-in-time solutions (energy concentration, increase in complexity, growth of structures, organization and order) and it therefore seems necessary to extend the cause and effect assumption to a new paradigm according to which we are constantly interacting with past and future causes. The past is handled by reason, whereas the future by the heart. We constantly need to choose between past and future, between reason and heart.

Syntropy, Resonance And Complementarity

Syntropy, Resonance And Complementarity
The forward-in-time solutions are governed by the law of entropy which leads towards energy dissipation, death and crises, whereas the backward-in-time solutions are governed by the law of syntropy (from the Greek syn=converging and tropos=tendency) which leads towards energy concentration, life and wellbeing. Syntropy acts on the invisible plane of vital energies. It manifests as synchronicities and opportunities. The properties of “resonance” and of “complementarity” allow to act on this invisible plane.

Eight Limbs Of Yoga
Ashtanga literally means eight limbs. You can look at the yoga process as the limbs (branches) of a tree that help the tree grow towards its full potential. You will learn that yoga is not just about the poses. The poses are only one of the eight limbs and without the other limbs, it’s just exercise. In this lecture Dorinda wants to give you some tools to apply these ancient rules to your daily life, your master class. We learn how all eight limbs of yoga are part of who you are and get clear instructions on how to find the right balance in life.

This lecture will be given in English.

Ashtanga Yoga (modified Primary Series)
Dorinda will take a modified flow tour through the Ashtanga primary series; a series of postures (asanas) popularized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This is an energetic, physically challenging practice that flows with the breath to help us break through energy blockages in the body and assists energy to flow. It’s a process that produces intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is an improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.

This workshop will be given in English.

Which Yoga Should I Follow?

Which Yoga Should I Follow?

A condensed introduction
The roots of yoga lie in India’s Hinduism. The beauty of Hinduism is its tolerance. It's an extreme combination of freedom of expression and complete restraint. Every believer is free to find its own balance between freedom and restraint, that what fits the best for him. So is the approach to Yoga. This explains why there are so many streams and schools. The question for you is: which fits the best with me?

Yoga teachers, schools and styles have different combination of approaches, accents, paces and pauses.

1- Approach

Approaches are either mainly based on control and mastering of the senses or based on exactly the opposite: on non-intervention, freeing of the senses and mastering through acceptance of what is as it is.

2- Accent
When its accent lies on bodywork it's called Hatha Yoga, when the accent is mainly intellectual it's called Jnana Yoga, from the heart Bhakti Yoga, based on deeds and its effect Karma Yoga, its accent on energy and breath Pranayama Yoga, on movement of energy Kundalini Yoga and on sound and its effect Mantra Yoga.

3- Pace

Paces go from staying for a long period of time in the same pose through slow movement to fast movement and even to very fast movement depending on the yoga type.

4- Pause

Pauses take place in between the poses, or after a series of poses, and are short or longer depending on the teacher, school or style.
Pauses in between the poses are designed to create more time to better experience the effect of the poses or as a meditative moment.
Not every yoga type uses pauses extensively. Some are used to do series of poses without any break in between.

And? Which one to follow?
As you can see there are a lot of possibilities.
Soon you will find a list here with possible choices between the different approaches in yoga. Choices between working on your physical health or focusing on your mental health. And within these choices there may be yoga classes with a more therapeutical background or those that are purely focused on spirituality.

Schola Cantorum Amsterdam

The Schola Cantorum Amsterdam (SCA) is an independent Gregorian choir that was founded by Wim van Gerven in 1959.

The schola, consisting of about eight men, and since 2007, a women’s schola (SCA Choeur de Femmes), sing the Gregorian vespers in the Basilica of St Nicolas in Amsterdam from September till June on every Sunday at 17:00 hrs. On important holy days the Matins are also sung. In addition, concerts are given by the Schola in the Netherlands and abroad. Performances of the singers include the Old Music Festival in Utrecht, the Musica Sacra Festival in Maastricht, the concert halls of Haarlem (Philharmonic), Utrecht (Vredenburg), Rotterdam (De Doelen), and Amsterdam (Royal Concertgebouw), and at Gregorian festivals in Ravenstein, Watou (B), Vienna, Italy, and Budapest.

The SCA’s functioning is very closely related to the work of its founder Wim van Gerven (1929-2008). He applied himself to the study of ancient handwritings, mainly of those from the tenth century. In these handwritings, the melodic course of the singing is indicated with small marks: the Neumes. These belong to the oldest form of western musical notation, from even before the introduction of the five-line staff notation. SCA tries as much as possible to realise the rhythmic flexible interpretation of these neume marks to achieve a historically justified performance. The present director of the men’s schola of SCA, Marcel Zijlstra, cherishes this tradition and manner of approach as much as his predecessors, Jerry Korsmit, Eugeen Liven d’Abelardo, and Wim van Gerven.

We will have Tastings in the Dark, because if you don’t see something, the taste is ever so much more surprising! Since the most beautiful conversations often occur at the table, EkoPlaza has chosen for table d’hotes: long tables where you can easily connect with other festival visitors and share ideas. Naturally, there will also be an ongoing organic coffee/tea bar with goodies and a beverage bar with organic beers, wine, juices and soft drinks. Together with EkoPlaza, caterer Fair Food Company will make sure that the restaurant is operated and furnished as sustainably as possible.

Allergy free foods
We also show consideration to allergy sufferers. This is somewhat tricky in the restaurant where the cutting board and knives may not come into contact with products that can cause any allergic reactions. Since this will be difficult to realize at such a large festival there will be a special section with gluten-free, nut-free and dairy-free food. Even vegans will have enough choices here.

In his inspiring multimedia presentation he will lead you to the silence in which they can be found. Through meditations and visualization exercises he will show the steps with which you can actually realize your dreams. On the way to your ultimate life. In doing so, he dares make himself vulnerable and use his own turbulent search for happiness as a guide. “For a big part of my life, I was searching for happiness. I was looking for recognition and confirmation. Or maybe, even more so, for inner peace. Sometimes I was placated by a guru of a philosophy for a while. But my inner turmoil kept coming back soon. That was until I was alone with myself. In the silence which ensued I didn’t find the emptiness I feared, but love for the things I am doing now. I invite you to come on a journey. An exploration. To help remind you who you are. And what you are able to do. To live your life fully.”

Het Licht Gezien (‘To Have Seen The Light’)
Marja has seen “the light” twice, which had a very positive and constructive effect on her life. She experienced that Love is so much more than “I love you” or “being in love”. During her talk, Marja will share her experiences and explain how you can connect with Love. Many of us are in love with the “wrong one”; someone who is not in love with you, or already married. So you wait, and suffer, and desire… But Love is within you. If you can feel it without projecting it on to someone else, you will be independent. Then, you will not wait for Love, but will pass it around because it is an endless source within you. Marja will show you how.

The Subliminal: How Your Unconscious Mind Influences Your Behaviour
From your preference in politicians to the amount you tip your waiter, all your judgments and perceptions reflect the workings of your mind on two levels: The conscious, of which we are aware, and the unconscious, which is hidden from us. As a result, we often misperceive our relationships with friends, family and business associates, misunderstanding the reasons for our personal feelings, investment decisions, and other important judgments. I will talk about the revolution in the scientific understanding of the unconscious that has occurred in the past decade and what it means for our lives.

Informatie: Een Fundamentele Bouwsteen Van De Werkelijkheid (‘Information: A Fundamental Building Block For The Fabric Of Reality’)
There are many good reasons to ask basic questions on the construction of reality. These questions do not only concern the structure of the world we live in and how we perceive it, but also the mysteries of how our Universe was born and how it will evolve in the far future. This article aims to highlight the prominent role of information in the manifestations of matter and discusses current materialistic paradigms, versus the concept that not matter, but information is primary in the evolution of our Universe.

The presentation will be presented in Dutch, however, Dick Meijer will use English translated presentation slides.

The word ‘flow’ means: the ultimate state of experience. Experiencing flow goes together with the ultimate state of concentration and is about the fully functioning individual, who is fully aware of what he does and in that, brings the best in himself forward. In the workshop, we will explore how we can connect meditation and experiencing the flow state. With some practical exercises, you will learn how you can function from flow easier in both meditation exercises and daily life.

Introduction to the Liberating Power of Mindfulness Practice
This workshop discusses the basic principles of mindfulness and vipassana meditation: insight, the possibility to make conscious choice (and thus freedom) comes freely as soon as you take the time to stop ‘doing’ and start looking inwards. Then you will see how your attention is inclined to identify itself with wild thoughts and how those thoughts seem to become reality. However, at the same time you notice this, you will also become aware of the entire process, the identification is let go. There is freedom. During the introduction it will become clear that this is the essence of the message of the Buddha.
We will practice this by means of guided breathing meditation where the experiences of the participants will be indicated in this way.

Teresa of Jezus and Juan de la Cruz are two Spanish mystics in the contemplative Carmel. In the lives and writings of these two ‘monuments’ in the history of spirituality there is Spanish passion in abundance. Throughout the world, there is admiration for this and their spiritual pedagogy invites one to follow the path (camino) to the encounter with the Secret of Life. The modern person considers himself to be a traveller and ‘pilgrim’, but where does the pilgrimage lead? A few metaphores from the works of these two mystics (castle, camino, butterfly, source, night, flame) can be of assistance with the exploration of a personal journey.

Onsterfelijkheid: Mythe Of Wordende Werkelijkheid? (‘Immortality: Myth Or Becoming Reality?’)
Does mankind have real perspectives on “immortality” and if so, what are the appropriate boundary conditions to make this come true in the coming ages? How will the future on our precious planet evolve with regard to life span and the quality of life of its inhabitants? And how dominant will biomedical technology be in further pushing the limits of longevity? Man is a symbol and metaphor creating a being who apprehends the world through his imaginary power. The desire to give a place to an “inevitable “individual death, has led mankind to many powerful immortality symbols, of which some of the most important ones will be discussed.

Shifting Perception – Satsang with Hans Laurentius
The emphasis during this satsang will be on shifting perception from identification to pure awareness. It is possible to learn how to shift from conditioned responses to an open state from which one can meet emotions and convictions instead of avoiding, denying or fighting them. Questions may be put, the answers will not be just theoretical, but practical and aimed towards experience rather than philosophy. Change in attitude towards convictions and emotional energy can create a radical change in your outlook on life in all its aspects. Consciousness never fights or denies anything, it just experiences it completely. You are consciousness, and you are only conditioned to avoid, fight or deny what is. This conditioning can be removed or dissolved. Want to see and feel how? Be welcome!

During the workshop Willemijn will guide participants into a visualisation journey. First, she will bring you to a place of deep silence, from where she will gently take you on a journey into different beautiful landscapes. Within this visualisation you could meet with beloved friends or family that passed away and receive some messages or insights about your daily affairs. After this meditation there is the opportunity to translate your inspiration and subtle perceptions into clear and practical understandings. Willemijn will also share her personal experiences about how she became aware of the unseen world and how communication between different levels and spirits is possible. You might find understanding and maybe some recognition in her story and she will give suggestions how to deal with your own intuition and healing talents. By sharing these experiences you might find that your limiting thought patterns or fears about these subjects can dissolve, whereby you can make a deeper contact with your own inner source of wisdom and peace.

During Sterrenstof, she will make short work of ‘mandatory’ positive thinking and the raving about calender wisdom. Full of self-mockery and allergic to vagueness and hazy language, she will pierce the comtemporary spititual myths and dig deeper for ingrained considerations. According to Smit, we will not reach awareness by detaching ourselves from the world and rising from our body and feelings, but should live life to the fullest; make mistakes, get up and acquire new insights.

The work Meister Eckhart, a preacher from the Middle Ages, left behind, is not easy. And yet he is still quoted often, as if he were a modern thinker. His philosophy about God contains wisdom of life that apparently still appeals in our virtual era. The original way in which Eckhart deals with the question ’why?’, summarized in ‘living without why’, can be a source of new inspiration.

After touring the globe for eight years and five studio albums, last year saw the release of their first ever live recording, Unleashed Live Vol. 1.

At that time the band showed that they knew how to strike a chord with audiences with their vintage jazz and R&B. The group is a great party band that revolves around songwriter J.P. Mesker. The music has overtones of Fats Waller and Howlin' Wolf, supplemented by a colorful array of musical styles and instrumentation. The band has toured with blues-swamp icon C.W. Stoneking and their debut album, Wicked Transmission, was released earlier this year. The conglomeration of styles is what makes this collective so special: from honky-tonk Balkan to dance music and folklore. They take great pleasure in playing and their virtuosity is at times astounding.

Nils Frahm (1982) had an early introduction to music: during his childhood he was taught to play piano by Nahum Brodski, a student of the last scholar of Tchaikovsky. Because of that, Frahm began to immerse himself in the styles of older classical pianists as well as contemporary composers. These days he is based in Berlin where he plays music, composes and produces. In early 2008 he founded Durton Studio, where he works with like-minded musicians. Frahm released his latest album Screws in 2012.
